        Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I PREPARE MY TOP FOR QUILTING?

PRESS all of the seams and make sure your top lays flat. This is very important, as ruffles and bumps into the fabric tend to turn into tucks and pleats.

DOUBLE CHECK that all loose threads have been snipped.

If your border is pieced, please secure the seam ends all the way around, loose stitches can pop when the quilt is loaded. Repairs are difficult at this point.

SQUARE your quilt top. Measure the quilt from top to bottom along the right side, middle and left side; these measurements should be within one inch of each other. Repeat for the horizontal measurements. A quilt that isn't square can result in pleats, tucks and quilting gaps at the end of the quilt.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY BACKING?

Your backing needs to be 100% cotton and have all of the selvages removed. It also needs to be PRESSED AND SQUARED. Your backing must also be 4 inches wider than your quilt top on all four sides of your quilt, I need the extra inches for attatching your quilt to the frame.

HOW DO I PREPARE MY TOP FOR SHIPPING?

  • FOLD both the top and the backing neatly, to minimize creasing.
  • INCLUDE printed order form and check or money order.
  • BATTING, if you prefer using your own.
